Alomo Bitters has taken Nigeria by storm in recent years and now the drink is ready to conquer the rest of the world. Hailed as being an effective replacement for Viagra, the drink has become increasingly popular among Nigerian couples looking to spice up their sex life. Here are our top 5 need to know facts about Alomo Bitters.

1. From Accra With Love

Believe it or not but Alomo Bitters is not originally Nigerian despite its popularity here. In fact, the drink is bottled and blended by the Kasapreko company in Ghana. Nonetheless, Alomo Bitters is so widely consumed in Nigeria that the Nigerian market makes up over 50% of the entire market for Alomo Bitters in West Africa.

2. Check Out the Sachets

Alomo Bitters is available in either a 750ml bottle or a 250ml bottle. If you don’t want to buy a whole bottle of the drink, Kasapreko also makes 30ml sachets which are widely available to purchase in Nigeria.

3. A Secret Recipe

The drink is said to be made from various plant extracts but the exact ingredients are a closely guarded secret. The manufacturer has openly claimed that the drink has anti-malarial qualities but hasn’t gone so far as to confirm the various health benefits which its drinkers attribute to it. These claims range from aphrodisiac qualities to the easing of menstural pains and cramps in women.

4. Are there Side Effects

The manufacturer claims that the drink has been tested by the Centre for Scientific Research into Plant Medicine in Ghana. However, many are sceptical and concerned about the potential side effects that the drink might have. For the time being, it can be legally sold in Nigeria as an anti-malarial product. However, it remains to be seen how regulatory agencies overseas choose to deal with the drink as it expands outside of the Nigerian market.

5. Celebrity Endorsement

The Ghanian actor, John Dumelo, was hired by Kasapreko to appear in the recent Alomo Bitters advert. Dumelo, for those of you who don’t know, was the first Ghanian citizen to receive a million likes on Facebook.

Hi Cindy, we love alomo bitters. If you drink in moderation, then the side effects (aka hangovers) shouldn’t be too bad.
